LGBT Pride Festival

The LGBT Pride Festival started last Friday with events promoting and celebrating LGBT diversity and is on until this Saturday. Check out the full programme here!

The highlight of the festival will be the Gay Parade that is happening on Saturday from 2 pm and the celebrations afterwards. People and floats taking part in the parade will be assembling at St. Stephen’s Green.

There will be a pre-parade rally at the start point of the parade from 12 noon onward with speeches and entertainment.

At the parade endpoint in Smithfield there will be entertainment with music, drag acts and speeches.

Let’s get together to celebrate diversity, inclusiveness and mutual respect!

Body&Soul Festival

The arts & music festival Body&Soul takes place from Friday to Sunday on the grounds of Ballinlough Castle in Co. Westmeath.

There, people explore and discover new music, secret hideaways and glittering late night discos in the woodlands. There are inspirational art trails, spoken word and debate, a magnificent masquerade ball, culinary feasts, steaming hot tubs and seaweed baths and much, much more. It appeals as much to fans of electronic music as to nature lovers, families with young kids as well as 30 somethings that like the finer things in life. It’s a celebration for foodies, folkies, funksters and late night revellers alike.

Disco é Cultura returns to the yard of the Bernard Shaw this Sunday. The party will have a special guest in the form of Wicklow man Johnny Carrol of Sim Simma and Manma Saor fame. Armed with piles of fresh wax from his recent trip to Brazil to compliment DeC’s usual cache of funk & folk from the tropics. 

As usual the big blue pizza bus will be in place, as well as the eat yard stalls, who’s food you can bring to the yard.

Maleek Berry Live – At Button Factory

The Buttton Factory will be receiving the British-born Nigerian record producer and recording artist Maleek Shoyebi this Friday.

After his break into the spotlight in 2012, Maleek Berry was nominated in the “Music Producer of the Year” category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

In April 2016 Maleek released the self-produced smash hit “Kontrol” which has gone on to become viral on the internet gathering millions of streams across different platforms. The official video was released on his birthday in August and managed to get over 100k views in less than a week.

Even with all his achievements to date, who knows what the future holds for this young producer. In his own words he plans to, “Create timeless music that will hopefully last longer than his generation.”
