Looking for a party with good electronic music this Friday? Boots & Kats are coming to District 8. The duo are specialised in making crowds move through their eclectic sets that have distinctive disco and funk influences. They made their mark on the Dublin scene with their residency for Toast Dublin, one of Dublin’s most established collectives known for its consistent party vibes. Their innate ability to connect with any crowd and provide a feel good atmosphere and energy regardless of the venue has led the lads to play across a wide variety of events around Europe. Fresh off the back of their massive Casa Bacardi set they are bringing their biggest headline show to date.

Kiasmos [Live] – At Vicar Street
The Icelandic minimal, experimental techno duo Kiasmos are bringing their very special live show to Dublin this Sunday. Kiasmos is made up of BAFTA-winning composer Ólafur Arnalds, known for his unique blend of minimal piano and string compositions with electronic sounds, and Janus Rasmussen from the Faroe Islands, known as the mastermind of the electro-pop outfit Bloodgroup. They started in 2009 and released their first extended play, Thrown, in 2012 and their album Kiasmos in 2014.
Kiasmos mark their return in 2017 with a new 12” EP titled Blurred – available worldwide from October.

Reset Robot – At Pygmalion
At Pygmalion this Saturday you will find Reset Robot playing for you to dance like there’s no tomorrow. Reset Robot is one of the worlds most prolific and widely respected electronic music producers. Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Joseph Capriati, Ida Engberg, & Jel Ford are just some of the artists that have passed through his studio. With a tour diary taking in territories as diverse as Australia, USA and all corners of Europe, he has made appearances at Fabric, Tobacco Docks London with Drumcode, Space Miami and Panorama Bar Berlin. He has released with some of the worlds top labels including Adam Beyer’s Drumcode & Truesoul, Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, Sven Väth’s Cocoon and Slam’s Soma Records.

Dublin Book Festival
The Dublin Book Festival aims to be Ireland’s most successful and vibrant book event. This annual public festival showcases, supports and develops Irish publishing by programming, publicising and selling Irish published books, their authors, editors and contributors, and by providing seminars and networking events – all in an entertaining, festive, friendly and accessible environment that reflects the creativity and personality of the Irish Publishing sector.
The event this year will run from 2-9 November in a variety of venues.

Dublin Beatles Festival
The Dublin Beatles Festival will take place this Saturday at The Workmans. The first event of the day will be “John Lennon’s Last Day” performed by Padraic McGinley with songs from the Beatles played live by Jon Ward. There will be also a fun quiz to find the biggest Beatles fan and a two set show from The Rockits with a selection of songs from the band and hits of the 60s.

The 4th Annual Dublin Feminist Film Festival fundraiser and programme launch is happening this Saturday. There will be poetry, stand up, live electronics, DJs and a bake sale. Their way of counteracting the mis/under representation of women on stage is to showcase these visionaries who embody the theme of the festival FeministFutures.
All profits will go to Sasane, a charity that provides support, education and training for victims of sex trafficking in Nepal.

If you are an actor, comedian, director or writer looking for inspiration and other artists to work with or you are just into arts and would like to watch these types of artists perform in an acting “Open Mic”, you will find Let’s Make a Scene an interesting event.
Let’s Make a Scene is a live platform to actors, comedians, improvisers, slammers, etc, for free to present, test, showcase or display their work to an audience (scene, monologue, sketch, reading, new material or in production, etc) and create a momentum prompting exchange and collaboration in between artists of different media sharing a passion.
The event is a monthly open platform and on Thursday you will discover the work of
Barry O’Donnell, Conor Hackett, Cormac Finan, Elaine Purdue, Janet Little, Jason Deeney, Luke Collins, Lynelle Colleran, Nicola Whelan, Padraic Mc Ginley presenting their work in development, in preview or in production.
