Do you want to kick off the weekend going out and dancing to some good music? The Amazing Route 94 is bringing the best of the house music to the District 8 this Friday and will keep you moving for sure!

Since emerging with a clutch of much-played tracks a couple of years ago, Route 94 has quietly yet forcefully established himself as a distinctive young figure in the house music scene. His music can be defined as simmering, forceful and purposely crafted for late night dance floors. His single “My Love” was a commercial success having charted to number 1 in three countries.

Be prepared to lose yourself to dance!

John Digweed – At Button Factory

John Digweed is coming to Dublin to be playing at Button Factory this Saturday!

If you’re not an avid follower of dance music but are tuned into popular culture at all, then you’ve likely experienced music touched by the hands of John Digweed.

Originally hailing from England but having arrived on the global scene nearly a decade ago, John has long since cemented his name in the pages of dance music history. His list of achievements is groundbreaking to say the least. Highlights include the first proper DJ mix compilation (“Renaissance”, done with Sasha), being the first British DJ to hold a residency at what was then the world’s most well known club in NYC, Twilo (also with Sasha) as well as having remixed tracks by Danny Tenaglia, Underworld and New Order.

Disciples – At The Wright Venue

Looking for electronic music? This Friday The Wright Venue will be receiving Disciples. The English production trio gained international recognition through their collaboration with Scottish record producer Calvin Harris on “How Deep Is Your Love”, which peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 27 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The group released their EP The Following through FFRR Records on 24 October 2015. “How Deep Is Your Love” was nominated for British Artist Video of the Year and British Single at the 2016 Brit Awards. On 15 April 2016, Disciples released a new single with David Guetta called “No Worries”.

At Pygmalion this Saturday the music will be provided by Margaret Dygas. Margaret is a former Panorama Bar resident and an avid collector and DJ of sublime electronic music in all styles, rhythms and textures. She has a penchant for long, sweeping productions that cherry pick elements from techno to melodic dub to jazz and everything in between. Her appearances at the legendary Panorama Bar regularly leave revelers astounded by the breadth of her selections.

Royal Blood – At 3Arena

The rock duo Royal Blood will be performing at 3Arena this Sunday. The band’s sound is reminiscent of and rooted in modern blues rock, hard rock, garage rock, stoner rock and psychedelic rock. 

Following its announcement on 11 April 2017, Royal Blood released their second album, How Did We Get So Dark? on 16 June 2017, preceded by the singles “Lights Out”, “Hook, Line & Sinker” and “I Only Lie When I Love You.” It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart.

IFI French Film Festival 2017

The IFI French Film Festival 2017 is presenting a huge programme of screenings and more from November 15th to 26th at the Irish Film Institute.

The programme includes 41 screenings over 12 days alongside a Masterclass with Agnès Jaoui, guests including Robin Campillo and Léa Mysius and fascinating introductions to their four screenings celebrating the centennial of Jean-Pierre Melville.

The Smithfield Lights event is back and bigger than ever in 2017! This is the main family Christmas event in Dublin with free children’s entertainment all evening – face painting, workshops, a vintage carousel and an outdoor screening of the classic Christmas movie The Snowman.

Market stalls are open from 3pm-9pm, and the exciting music line-up includes headliners the Riptide Movement, Red Empire and the Stanhope Street Girls Choir!

The main tree lighting event will take place at 7pm, with VIP Santa, The Lord Mayor and special guests in attendance.

Wild Lights – At Dublin Zoo
